In Which We Have Booth And Bones and Sports. Oh, Dear.

Season 3, Episode 11
The Player Under Pressure

Booth and Bones and sports. Such a classic.

Booth gets so upset when Bones speaks out against sports not just because it's someone talking down on him, it's Bones talking down on him. He knows she doesn't think him and his personality and values always ideal in her mind, but when she speaks out like that, it still hurts him, because it's Bones, and he likes to think that she doesn't entirely think down on him.

DINER RECAP: Booth still sticking on the “oh, you think all athletes are just emotionally stunted”. Bones says “But I never meant you” so matter-of-factly. She assumed he knew, and he didn't. This is one of the times when they're out of synch, but it's good that they are. Otherwise it wouldn't be interesting. And like Zach said, the idea that one person can be absolutely everything to another person is just ludicrous. What matters is that 1) they're in synch with the really important things, and 2) when they aren't in synch with something, they can consciously get on the same track with each other once they realize there was a misunderstanding.
